Community Affairs AutoNation is America’s largest automotive retailer and we believe in giving back to the markets we serve through community outreach efforts geared at making us good neighbors. We are committed to helping communities become better places to live. We support local community efforts that focus on the health and welfare of the family with special emphasis on the education and safety of children. Our four main areas of community outreach are: charitable contributions, event sponsorships, volunteerism, and diversity efforts. Each market is responsible for its own outreach; however, there is a corporate fund that can help address local needs. This fund is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where our national corporate headquarters is located. Examples of some of the organizations we support are:
· Adopt A Family o Outreach program where associates donate food, clothing and other support to needy families.
· American Red Cross o Support program for emergency services during disasters.
· Big Brothers/Big Sisters o Pairs mentors with children from single parent families.
· Boys and Girls Clubs o Gives children a safe place to learn and grow.
· Take Stock In Children o Pairs low-income children with mentors and scholarships.
· Habitat for Humanity o Volunteers create homes for first-time, very low-income home owners.
· Kids In Distress o A shelter for abused, neglected and abandoned children.
· NAACP o A community advocacy organization that addresses the issues of the African-American community.
· National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers o An association of African/American and Hispanic dealers.
· National Council of La Raza o An Hispanic advocacy group that focuses on Hispanic issues.
· NCCJ o Serves as a beacon of light for tolerance and multi-cultural harmony.
· United Way o Umbrella health and welfare organization with over 86 programs and 52 member organizations that helps companies. o Corporate choice for company-wide charitable giving.
· Urban League o Premier African –American organization that aligns itself withthe business community and has as its goal as job procurement.
· YMCA o Youth fellowship organization that creates positive attitudes and free mentoring through prevention programs.
